The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) held its bimonthly meetings of Governors and the Annual General Meeting on June 28 and 29 in Basel, Switzerland. Governor Pan Gongsheng attended the meetings and exchanged views with other participating central bank governors on recent global economic and financial developments, the implications of new payment instruments for traditional financial system and monetary sovereignty, the challenges posed by trade policy uncertainty along with other topical issues.
During the meetings, Governor Pan also met with Mr. Agustín Carstens, General Manager of the BIS, Mr. Rhee Changyong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, Mr. Tiff Macklem, Governor of the Bank of Canada, Mr. Perry Warjiyo, Governor of Bank Indonesia, Mr. Christian Kettel Thomsen, Governor of the National Bank of Denmark, Ms. Natia Turnava, Governor of the National Bank of Georgia, and Mr. Fernando Restoy, Chair of the Financial Stability Institute.
